With the start of spring, gardeners are turning their attention to controlling weeds, pests, insects and fertilising their lawns, plants and vegetables.
To ensure you have the right spray equipment for these purposes spraying specialist Silvan Australia has a new premium range of ProGrade sprayers especially designed for applying herbicide, pesticide, liquid or soluble fertilisers and degreaser.
Silvan Hardware general manager Jason Bakhtiar said a key element of the ProGrade range was Silvan’s five-year product warranty and full back up parts and accessories program.
In the ProGrade lineup are five and eight litre hand held sprayers and the 15 litre no-leak backpack unit. The sprayers are all equipped with viton seals and gaskets for maximum chemical resistance.
Both the five and eight litre sprayers have non corrosive poly wands, wide base and tear-dropped shaped tanks to provide a low centre of gravity, which helps prevent tipping and spills. The sprayers come with easy-to-attach, adjustable shoulder or carry straps.
They are also equipped with a handle that automatically shuts off, a trigger lock and nickel plated poppet and filter.
They also come with four nozzles including an air induction nozzle for greater weed killing results and one that adjusts from pencil stream to fine mist for a variety of applications.
Both sprayers contain a low volume fan nozzle for foliage or confined areas and a high volume fan for broad coverage of large areas like lawns.
Additionally, on the hand sprayers a convenient drip tray provides storage and protection of the lance and nozzle. An efficient pump also means less pumping is required per litres sprayed.
The 15L no-leak backpack sprayer, with shoulder harness, is designed to significantly reduce exposure to harmful chemicals so they never run down your back – the leading complaint with backpack users.
Other features include a high-pressure piston, internal pump delivering up to 150psi for spraying over longer distances and an agitation paddle, for optimal mixing of soluble powders.
Like the 5L and 8L sprayers, the 15L unit comes with four nozzles including the low and high-volume fan.
Another feature is a low-pressure regulator which maintains constant 25psi pressure for more even spraying.
Outside the ProGrade range there are two other sprayers worth highlighting.
16L rechargeable backpack sprayer
This 16L backpack unit is especially designed for spot spraying around the house, nurseries, parks and gardens for weed and pest control and fertiliser application.
Its main feature is a built-in rechargeable battery which allows up to five full tanks of spraying per charge with no pumping required.
It also has an ergonomic, contoured tank design and adjustable straps and back rest for comfortable use and an easy to reach on-off switch.
13L heavy duty trolley sprayer
This new, improved 13 litre heavy duty trolley sprayer features viton seals, a wide wheelbase for greater stability and maneuverability and an adjustable, aluminium telescopic spray lance with 350mm of extra lance length to reduce stretching and leaning into difficult to reach places.
