2012 SELECTA SPARK-FREE DIESEL TRANSFER WITH AIR-POWER PUMPTransferring diesel fuel in many applications in the resources industry, local government and for safe working of contractor’s equipment often requires a spark-free safety environment. Silvan Australia has responded to this need with the introduction of a Selecta Air-Power Diesel Pump which operates without the need for electrical currents. The Air-Power Diesel Pump is a double diaphragm compressed air powered multi-purpose pump that is compatible with a wide range of liquids or chemicals. When used for pumping or transferring diesel it has a rated capacity of 60 litres per minute although it can be used to pump oils, water and the Ad Blue aqueous urea diesel fuel additive. The Air-Power is a double diaphragm pump that uses Viton as the principal material within a polypropylene housing. The Pump uses only 0.2CM per minute of compressed air at a pressure of 8 bar, or 116 psi, and could be driven from the on-board compressed air capacity of most mobile equipment items. With no electrical components spark free operation is provided. The Air-Power pump has a quarter inch BSP air inlet connection with a three quarter inch BSP female connection to enable a delivery hose and nozzle gun to be fitted for delivery. Selecta has also coupled the Air-Power pump with a 400 litre capacity Polytuff tank that is baffled and UV Stabilised and fitted with a full delivery system of an auto shut off gun with swivel and a four metre length of delivery hose. This unit not only provides the benefits of spark free fuel transfer but with the aid of a snap on hose fitting can usually be powered from a vehicle or equipment item that already has an on board compressed air supply.
